OmniRoute is an open-source, self-hosted AI gateway that presents a unified endpoint and lets operators configure provider/model routing and fallback. The repository is MIT-licensed; that license covers the software, not third-party model inference, provider accounts or their usage fees. Provider credentials, quotas, availability and terms remain provider-specific, so the project must not be described as making every model free. Its MCP and A2A interfaces expose OmniRoute's own gateway functions and agent protocols; this is not a claim that it aggregates arbitrary external MCP servers. Deployment requires the operator to secure credentials, select authentication and scopes, and review network exposure. Compare it with OpenRouter, LiteLLM and Portkey on managed versus self-hosted operation, credential control, routing/fallback behavior, observability and total upstream cost. No account-level provider setup or security audit was performed by this directory.
